Solid State Thought deals with the ever-intensifying relationship between humanity and technology, particularly as it pertains to human thought. As technology continues to improve, many actions that once required human thought are now performed by machines. Technology is now growing at an exponential rate. With so much being introduced into our world one has to consider its far-reaching effects.
The technological objects in these photographs have all been replaced. Newer, more efficient technologies have long since made them obsolete. This timeline of technology I have created within my work is designed to bring contemplation over what might be next in line.
Whether it is life or art-making, it is the process that informs our beliefs and us. The photographic process is the perfect medium to use in the exploration of this relationship between humanity and technology. Photography is, to me, a unique blend of technology and thought, as each is present throughout the process from image capture to image creation.
